Manitoba REALTORS® host summer sizzler June 2006
REALTORS® Care teamed up with Siloam Mission for a second successful event on Saturday June 24th. REALTORS® Care volunteers serve up a traditional summer BBQ to the mission’s clients at their Summer Sizzler event.
"REALTORS® Care is about focusing our combined efforts on shelter driven projects and charities in Manitoba," says Deborah Goodfellow, Chair of the REALTORS® Care Board of Governors and organizer of the Summer Sizzler BBQ.
The REALTORS® Care crew arrived, BBQ’s and all, at 10am to prepare the spread for over 350 people. Siloam Mission patrons were treated to fresh fruit salad, veggies, potato salad, cake, cookies, chips, pop and, of course, the hamburgers and hotdogs.
"Anytime we do something a little special for them it shows them that they are valued," says John Mohan, Executive Director of Siloam Mission. Dueling BBQ’s in the parking lot of the Mission did double time trying to supply the burgers and dogs to the front lines fast enough.
Local Fiddler, Colin Dyck entertained the crowd with some old time tunes that made your head bob and your feet tap. Ron Tardiff, Manitoba Real Estate Association President stated, “we live and work in these communities and it is an opportunity to give something back”.
REALTORS® Care would like to sincerely thank To-Le-Do Foods for their contribution to the BBQ. Without their generosity the BBQ would not have been the success it was.
